Meeting
The following people were present at the meeting: Jack
Holter, Helen Engle, Ann Dahn, Linda Moore, Linda Marble, Bob Bowlby, Michael
Stephens, Gabriel Chancey, Kaci
The
meeting was called to order at 7:20 PM. Michael Stephens led the group through
the dancing syllabus. Suggestions and revisions were initiated. Michael
Stephens made a motion that we accept it as a living syllabus. Kaci
Bob
Bowlby brought up dance etiquette. All instructors need to stress this in their
class each week. A new rule will be emphasized each week. The list of rules
from Sandy Ray’s workshop will be utilized. Jack Holter will state the rule
during announcements, then the instructors will reinforce
the rule during class. Flyers of the rule will be distributed.
The
game plan for Thursday was set in place. Bob Bowlby will be in charge of the
music. 1) The music

c) Introduce the Instructors
d) Announce the name change
e) Classes will be 45 minutes
with dancing afterwards

Remind members to pay dues

announcements.
4) Jack Holter will start music the last 5 minutes
of class.
5) Instructors will continue to have students
rotate.
6) 3 more songs will be played and all Board and
Instructors will dance with members of the club.
It
was decided that the first class would be free for all new visitors. After that
it is $5.00 per class, $45 for six months, or $60 per year.
Linda
Marble will purchase a receipt book for Thursday. We will talk to members
individually concerning payment of dues. We will have bill reminders that day
to pass out. Printed nametags will be given to paid members, hand written name
tags will be distributed to paid that day members. A
color will designate a non-paid person. We will have a separate sign in sheet
for paid members and those with dues due. There will also be a sign in sheet
for new people, including name, address, phone number, and email. All members
will be encouraged to become current on their dues. We also will make small
table topper flyers for Houston City Limits.
It was
discussed that we get business cards for the Instructors. All seemed to think
it was a good idea, but no final decision was made.
A
list of club names suggested by members was distributed. Michael Stephens made
a motion that we name the club “The North Houston Swing Dance Club”. Kaci
Jack
Holter announced that a laptop computer would be donated to the club. A
possibility of a complimentary year membership to the donor was discussed. No
final decision was made.
