Board meeting 12-19-03

The following people were present at the meeting: Tami Augustyn, Kaci Berry, Gabriel Chancey, Kristina, Donese Scheffe, Gary Scheffe, Bob Bowlby, Ann Dahn, Jamie Callahan, Michael Stephens, Jack Holter, and Helen Engle.

After discussion concerning the negative response to upcoming changes in the club it was decided we should stress that we are not teaching anything different – just teaching it differently. This change in rhetoric should calm any member’s fears.

The following decisions were made.

1) We need a dance night out.

2) We will dance at 7 PM, announcements at 7:30 PM, class at 7:45 PM. At the end of class (8:25 PM) music will be played. The instructor will continue to have students rotate a few more times. A second song will be played and students will rotate. The instructor will then phase out and the students will continue dancing.

3) Assistants dance instructors will rotate monthly. The first month assignment is:

Level 1 Michael Stephens Donese Scheffe and Jamie Callahan

Level 2 Bob Bowlby Linda Marble and Bev Bowlby

Level 3 Gabriel Chancey Tami Augustyn

Bob stated that we need a Level 3 class to begin in January with a valid curriculum. Jamie made a motion to have all three levels start the first of the year. It was seconded by Kaci. It passed unanimously.

Discussion was then directed to the dance curriculum. It was decided that we will teach extensions in the Level 1 class. The goal is for this to help with connections. The final draft of the curriculum will be made by the instructors and presented to the board.
